    STORIA DELLA CANZONE:
    “Runaway” venne composta da Del Shannon agli inizi del 1961. Egli si ispirò ad un virtuosismo musicale di un membro della sua band, tale Max T. Crook, eseguito nell’Hi-Lo Club di Battle Creek nel Michigan.
    Crook era un suonatore di pianoforte; in questo piano, che era più basso rispetto a quelli normali ed era chiamato musitron, vi era stato inserito un amplificatore.
    Il musicista eseguì un insolito cambiamento di tempo nella battuta e Shannon venne colpito da tutto ciò e gli chiese di ripetergliela più volte fino a quando gli ispirò “Runaway”.
    Nel mese di aprile, la canzone raggiunse il primo posto della classifica americana e vendette oltre un milione di copie.
    Altre versioni di questo brano furono eseguite da Lawrence Welk nel 1962, da Bonnie Raitt nel 1977 e da Narvel Felts nel 1978.
